Agnes-Froehlich-Verein

The Agnes-Froehlich-Verein wants to support the missionary engagement of the "Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood" in East-Africa, Kenya,Tanzania and on the Isle of Zanzibar quickly and unbureaucratically.
The Agnes-Froehlich- Verein was founded by Otto Hofmann in 1978. The idea was born, when Mr. and Mrs. Hofmann visited the missionary station Kagwe in Kenya. Sister Engelberta (Agnes Froehlich), a former school-mate of Otto Hofmann, had invited them.

They learned to know the everyday strains of the missionary sisters and the misery of a lot of the inhabitants. You cannot imagine the conditions of the roads and paths in that region. Very often they are extremely dangerous. Spontaneously Mr. Hofmann promised the sisters to provide them a cross-country vehicle.
In his parish in Cologne Mr. Hofmann started to collect money, and at Christmas in 1979 he presented a new Range Rover to the missionary sisters in Kagwe. But this was not the last present.
Since the foundation in 1978 the Agnes-Froehlich-Verein had increased already to 140 members. Today there are more than 1000 members in Germany and Austria.
These members do their works completely honorary and without any administrative costs. They pay their trips to meetings of the Agnes-Froehlich-Verein themselves and even their flights to the missionary stations in Africa, too.
