There are more than 20 missionary stations in East Africa supported by
sponsorships and receiving help from the Agnes-Froehlich-Verein. The main
purpose of the Agnes-Froehlich-Verein is always the idea of
"help for self-help".
The Agnes-Froehlich-Verein cares for a guesthouse of the sisters in
Nairobi-Westlands and maintains a garage, with free repairs and services
for the missionary sisters' cars. And beyond this native youths are trained
here.
But the greatest project is an orphanage outside Nairobi, where children
are protected and kept off from lives in the streets. But this can only
succeed if there are enough sponsors, who engage themselves by paying a
regular amount to cover the costs.
These are the supports:
Day by day several hundred children from the slum
nearby come to the "Sisters of the Precious Blood" for a
meal. Here they get rather dry beans e.g., as many of the children have
neither dishes nor spoons, but only a paper bag. In addition to this
they get a mug of milk or filtered water.
For most of the children this is their only meal of the day.
An African woman with a sewing machine is able to earn
her living. Therefore the sisters teach sewing at the missionary
schools. An especially good final examination is rewarded with a
sewing machine, which can be a base for an existence. The "Agnes-Froehlich-Verein"
have handed over a lot of sewing machines, already.
Sponsoring elementary schools, sewing schools, kindergartens, preschools, missionary pupils and orphans.
Building or extending of classrooms, sleeping halls, lodgings for the teachers, sewing centres, agricultural grounds, buildings for the missionaries, water containers, electrical facilities, fountains and irrigation constructions.
Purchasing of all-wheel-off-roaders, tools, tractors
with ploughs and harrows, oilpresses for sunflower kernels, sewing
machines, motorbicycles for the missionaries.
Purchasing of medicine, spectacles, canes, watches and typewriters for blind men, wheelchairs, crutches, spare-parts for the motor vehicles.
